Photo Skirts

We are happy to introduce a whole new way to look at clothing, a way that not only shows off your style, but also your design and photography skills.  What we’re talking about is photo skirts.  Photo skirts are skirts, yes, minis, knee length, pencil, and maxi skirts that are made of fabric printed with your own designs or photos.  To create a photo skirt, simply follow these instructions and you will see how fun and easy it can be.

First you’ll want to pick out a style of skirt from the many options that are out there.  If you are having someone else make it for you, then you’ll want to be specific and give them your exact measurements.  If you’re making it yourself, you’ll either want to draft or purchase a pattern for the photo skirt.  Next you’ll want to decide on a design or photo(s) that will be put on the fabric and turned into the skirt.  Just a few ideas for what can be put on a photo skirt: scenery of your favorite spots, including national parks, beaches, or mountains, a really cool design you created in Photoshop, a photo collage of you and your friends, just a really neat picture that you have taken, etc.  You’ll want to decide how you want the picture to look when the skirt is finished (one continuous picture) or a repeated pattern of the same picture/design.

Next is the tricky part.  You’ll want to find a custom fabric company that can print your pictures onto apparel fabric that can be turned into a photo skirt.  This is important because you’ll want the fabric to be correct for a skirt, if it’s too heavy, it might not be comfortable or hang correctly.  Then you’ll want to get the picture(s) ready for print.  If you want one continuous picture over the entire photo skirt, this will take extensive time and detailed planning to make it look correct when finished.

Finally you are ready to assemble your photo skirt.  Simply cut according to your pattern, follow sewing instructions and you will have a beautiful photo skirt that can be worn for many occasions and show off your fantastic skills.  From formal events to casual everyday wear your friends and onlookers will be amazed at the cutting edge style and unique designs that you can create with photo skirts.
